Bridal shows can be completely OVERWHELMING for a bride. There are so many other brides, so many booths, everyone is trying to get from point to point and it can really get crazy. In this special edition of my ezine I'm going to give you some savvy tips and tricks for hitting the bridal fair with style and sass!!
Tip # 1: Wear comfy shoes! - You're going to be walking a mile on a hard tradeshow floor. Yes, it's lovely to look fashionable but the brides in stilettos never last long at the bridal fair. If you really want to see everything and be comfortable think about your feet first! (But be a little elegant and leave the stinky gym sneakers at home... opt for some cute supportive flats)
Your Timing Should Be Spot On At The Bridal Fair - If you want some one on one time with the exhibitors and some inexpensive wedding gowns, your timing should be spot on. So make sure you are at the show first thing in the morning. Also while everyone is busy at the fashion show, utilize your time to have a chat with some of the exhibitors. This is the best way to get some quality time with the exhibitors.
Tip #3: Your Hand Will Cramp - Many exhibitors will be offering prizes at their booths and you'll be asked to fill out a ballot form. You waste valuable time writing out your contact info again and AGAIN. So print off a couple sheets of labels that include your name, your groom's name, your wedding date, your address, phone number and email. Then it will be easy to just peel and stick your info to the ballots. Then you can spend quality time checking out all the cool stuff on display!
Beware of the Bridezilla - If you think that there wont be a bridezilla at the bridal fair, you are so very wrong. Expect her to be there. She will be pushing your Mom. She will be making fun of your wedding colors. She will push you around to get the prize. She will scream in your ears about how expensive things are. So what will you do when you come across one? Just ignore her. The more attention you pay her, the more aggressive she will get. So forget about her and enjoy the bridal fair!
Be Polite with the Exhibitors - The exhibitors at the bridal fair are the reason why you are visiting the show. So dont be rude and impatient. Be nice to them, request information and wait for them to get through with the previous bride. Believe me; you will end up getting much more if you are nice to them.
This kind of mentality will get you far with other exhibitors as well. I find myself giving extra nice brides FREE advice! I know other exhibitors do too!! (because we all want to work with nice brides)
Drink Drink Drink! - Dont forget to take some water with you to the bridal fair. The heat and the walking will soon make you tired and thirsty. So keep yourself hydrated and have fun going around from one booth to another.
Be Confident While Making Your Choices - At the bridal fair, you will find lots of exhibitors, lots of brides and lots of confusion. But dont get overwhelmed with it. You dont have to make a choice right there. Here are some tips which can help you make the right choice:
Know What You Want at the Bridal Fair - Find what you are looking for and just have fun with the rest of it. You dont have to plan your whole wedding right there. Some vendors might be great in your opinion whereas some others may not be so great. Just meet with them and find the vendors who you know should be a part of your wedding.
Approach Each Exhibitor Calmly at the Bridal Fair - You cannot run away from the sales pitch. You are there to buy and exhibitors are going to try their best to make sure that you buy it from them. So be calm and ask the exhibitors politely to answer your own personal questions.
Thanks But No Thanks - If you're not interested thank them and walk away. Don't take the flyer and load up your bridal bag. Guess what? You'll quickly rifle through that bag ONCE after the fair, pulling out the vendors you connected with... and then it'll sit in your closet to be found on your 2 year wedding anniversary! - 16035
